4/5/07 All four candidates for Tacoma City Council position number 8 will be in attendance at our April 25th meeting. The each have been supplied with a unique question which centers around the future of our neighborhood.

9/28/05 The Department of Corrections advises HDC of their intent to support the Berkshire Apartments in the 2500 block of South Fawcett as a housing establishment for Level 3 Sex Offenders. After attending our meeting DOC decided to change their mind and not support this project.

2/23/05 HDC sends a letter to the City and UWT outlining our position on the closure of streets in downtown Tacoma.

2/23/05 At the annual meeting of the HDC Board of Directors the following officers were elected to serve for the next 12 months: president Rollie Herman, vice president Forrest German, secretary Claire Sadlier, treasurer Tony Valenzuela.

8/17/04 The Tacoma City Council's Economic Development Committee discusses the proposed Market Street closure with representatives from UWT and the Hillside Development Council. While the HDC was the only community group requested to speak, the Downtown Merchants Association also expressed their concerns at the meeting.

2/25/04 At the monthly meeting, Sandy Boyle and Mark Wark from UWT discuss the proposed Market Street closure.

10/21/03 At the annual meeting of the HDC Board of Directors the following officers were elected to serve for the next 12 months: president Rollie Herman, vice president Forrest German, secretary Claire Sadlier, treasurer Tony Valenzuela.

9/03 The Mayor and City Staff have been made aware of HDC's concerns regarding UWT's long range plan of closing Market Street to auto traffic. Discussions have also started with the City about development of City owned properties.

8/6/03 Through the Mayor's office Hillside Development Council is notified that the Metropolitan Development Council will not proceed with the Avenue Apartment Project at the Tacoma Avenue site.

5/22/03 Nativity House introduces their new executive director, Dianne Powers, to the HDC members present at the monthly meeting between Nativity House and HDC.
